Dominican Republic: Dictator Trujillo was who he was because he was a lefty
A
book that was presented today in Madrid discusses the mindset of
Dominican dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo (1891-1961) from the theory
of the cerebral hemispheres to conclude that left-handedness influenced
his behavior.
"Trujillo was left-handed. According to this theory, lefties are
governed by the right side of his brain, while righties are governed by
the left. This implies a way of interpreting the world, of interpreting
life, "Efe said the author of the book," The job of brainwashing,
"Cassandro Fortuna.
According to the writer, the Dominican dictator was a person that was
"intuitive, with lots of imagination," in front of people and was
governed by the left brain, "which are rational and analytical."
"To mount a dictatorship one must have little sense/judgement, one must rationalize very little. A reasonable person, that reasons, says to himself, 'I will not get into that,' "said Fortune, who noted how historical figures like Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden and Hugo Chavez were also lefties.
The
book, presented today at the headquarters of the Ibero-American
Secretariat in a ceremony attended by the Dominican ambassador in Spain,
Cesar Medina. It was first published in 2007 in the Dominican Republic
as well as in Spain. The author wants to promote it in other European
countries.
"The job of brainwashing" addressed the mindset of Trujillo (the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Trujillo was last May) from the principles of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), the theory of the cerebral hemispheres and personality theory authoritative point of view of the Frankfurt School.
The Era of Trujillo (1930-1961), known as the period in the country, is
considered by many to be one of the bloodiest regimes in Latin America.
